UoH Alumini Prof. V Bharathi Harishankar Designated as Vice Chancellor of Avinashilingam University of Women

Prof. V Bharathi Harishankar, a member of the School Board of Humanities and alumni of the University of Hyderabad's Department of English, has been named Vice Chancellor of Avinashilingam University for Women in Coimbatore. According to a statement released by the institution on Wednesday, Prof Bharathi was a Ph.D. scholar at the University of Hawaii's Department of English from 1989 to 1993.
She formerly served as the University of Madras's Head of Women's Studies, Director of IQAC, and Director of HRDC. Prof Bharati, a noted postcolonial studies researcher, was also crucial in establishing the Gender Laboratory for Diversity and Inclusiveness Education (GLIDE), collaborated with University of Madras and Sutherland Global Services to create the country's first of its kind.
As an active researcher, the UoH alumnus has led and cooperated on various projects, including those with IIT Madras, the International Development Research Centre (Canada), the National Commission for Women, the University Grants Commission, and European Union-Erasmus programmes.
According to the statement, she has also worked on European Union-Erasmus capacity-building programmes.
