With financial support from the Asian Bank, the World Bank in South Asia, and the Humanitarian Assistance Programme of the European Union, UNICEF launched this community-based education programme.

These organisations will help UNICEF build 466 classrooms to teach the 9400 male and female students who desire to pursue an education.

According to UNICEF, 21,000 of these programmes will be established in Afghanistan by the end of 2023.

While the Taliban-led government has barred female students in grades six and higher from attending classes for more than 600 days, these educational activities are taking place.

The Taliban leadership has made a lot of promises, but it has not yet said when it will permit female students to return to school in Afghanistan. The prohibition on female students enrolling in secondary and post-secondary schools drew intense condemnation both domestically and abroad.

Despite strong criticism from the international world and Afghanistan's neighbours, the Taliban regime prioritises women's labour and education.
