The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) hosted a high-level private sector roundtable dialogue in Mumbai where it officially launched the India Chapter of the Coalition for Reproductive Justice in Business addressing women's health and gender equality in their workplaces. The Coalition aims to advance the reproductive health agenda for women and girls working in corporate strategy and operations. It encourages private sector organizations to implement policies and practices for women employee reproductive health.
Executive Director of UNFPA, Dr. Natalia Kanem mentioned, "Today's discussion demonstrated how India's dynamic private sector is advancing its commitment to women's health and rights in diverse and innovative ways. These solutions benefit all workers and help the bottom line. This coalition can be a powerful engine for sharing best practices and inspiring change across workplaces in India and across the world."
The Coalition for Reproductive Justice in Business was established in 2022 and came into effect in 2023 at the World Economic Forum in Davos which acts as a catalyst in corporate investments for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). It focuses on women's health, equality, and economic growth in the workplace. This coalition aligns with Government of India's motive to advance women's empowerment in leadership, pay parity, attrition, maternity rights, and gender parity, etc.
