Emine Dzhaparova, the deputy foreign minister of Ukraine kept a proposal on Tuesday stating that Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would be pleased to speak at the G-20 Summit in New Delhi, which will take place in September 2023.
While speaking at the government-funded think tank Indian Council of World Affairs, Emine also urged India to include the delegates of Ukraine in the G20 meetings because of the effect of war on the global economy.
Zelenskyy's address at the G20 summit is an intriguing idea but it may affect India as India has voted in favor of allowing the Ukrainian President while Russia had voted against it.
Emine further stated that India can contribute more to promoting peace as the current chair of G20. She hopes that the Indian officials would soon visit Kyiv. She expects that Ajit Doval, India's National Security Adviser can visit Kyiv for a "balanced approach" on New Delhi's part.
On considering India's stand so far, she said that keeping ties with Russia is being on the wrong side of history.
Meenakshi Lekhi, MoS for External Affairs met with Emine and had a discussion about the global issues of mutual interest, besides women empowerment and cultural ties.
Emine lastly said that India may take some more time to establish new relations with Ukraine as it is going through visionary changes. However, the new connections should be founded on a "pragmatic and balanced approach".
