The UAE-India CEPA Council (UICC) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry Ladies Organisation (FICCI-FLO) have partnered to host a business roundtable in Mumbai, involving over 40 Indian women entrepreneurs.
The event aimed to explore opportunities under the UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which offers transformative opportunities such as greater market access, lower tariffs, and simplified trade processes.
The UAE delegation, including Ambassador Abdulnasser Alshaali, UICC Director Ahmed Aljneibi, and Investment Support Specialist Kawthar Alkharoossi, attended the event. FICCI-FLO representatives including, FLO National President Joyshree Das Verma, Chairperson of FLO Mumbai Chapter Aarmeen Mogul Dordi, Former FLO National President Kiran Gera, and Samina Khorakiwala also graced the event.
The UAE-India CEPA offers significant benefits to Indian women entrepreneurs, including increased market access, reduced trade barriers, and enhanced bilateral collaboration. The agreement has benefited industries like textiles, jewelry, and handicrafts, where women entrepreneurs have a strong presence, says Ahmed Aljneibi, Director of the UICC.
The CEPA, a trade agreement between the UAE and India, has significantly boosted economic ties between the two countries, with trade increasing by almost 15 per cent from USD 72.9 billion in 2021-2022 to USD 83.64 billion in 2023-2023. The UAE's role in fostering open dialogue and accelerating trade ties with India is reflected in the UICC's commitment to mutual growth.
