The Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) announced a partnership with SBI Cards & Payment Services Ltd. for placement-linked skill development courses as part of a programme to improve the lifestyle of female students. A CSR programme for the empowerment of women was established by TSSC as part of this relationship at the Government College for Girls in Sector-14, Gurugram.
On November 21, Manohar Lal Khattar, the CM, opened the facility. To improve industry-relevant vocational and soft skills, the Telecom CoE arrangement includes theory classrooms, hands-on labs, hybrid labs, and a dedicated language centre. The centre will offer short-term courses in telecom service occupational roles that are compatible with the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) and National Curriculum Framework (NCF).
Beginning in September of this year and lasting for two years, the project will serve 763 candidates.
"The CSR project under this collaboration will be a crucial boost in skilling the female youth and enable them develop the spirit of self-reliance to explore 'new employment positions," said Arvind Bali, CEO of the Telecom Sector Skill Council. The TSSC has always been at the forefront of reskilling, upskilling, and retraining young people to prepare them for the workforce, and this significant relationship with SBICards for CSR is yet another step toward advancing gender equality and women's empowerment.
The CSR project was conceived as part of TSSC's Livelihood Enhancement and Promotion (LEAP) Program, which supports the development of fundamental and advanced skills for current and prospective telecom courses.
The major goal of this programme is to give candidates for telecom trades the competence and confidence they need to satisfy the growing demand for service, manufacturing, and retail career sectors. This will boost Haryana's local talent while advancing the sector as a whole. The Government Girls College and the Haryana CSR Trust, who work to ensure the project's success, both provided assistance for the endeavour.
Rama Mohan Rao Amara, Managing Director & CEO, SBI Card stated, “India is already a hotspot of potential youth talent, and as a growing institution, we are doing our share to improve the status of women in the workforce. We are confident that this collaboration with TSSC will benefit women candidates in Haryana and assist them in moving beyond theoretical courses to become job ready. This is a one-year partnership, and we believe it will add to the momentum of initiatives already underway by the government and various companies to attract more female talent to the industry.”
