TSRTC to Offer Range of Services to Female Passengers to Celebrate Upcoming Women's Day
By: WE Staff | Monday, 7 March 2022
To commemorate International Women's Day, the TSRTC has chosen to offer a range of services to female passengers, including four dedicated excursions for women during peak hours in Hyderabad and free travel for women aged 60 and above.
The Corporation has also decided to provide free stalls/spaces at bus stops for exhibition and sale of products/services by women entrepreneurs/SHG/DWACRA groups etc. until March 31.
Through its 30 driving institutes throughout the state, the Corporation would provide free driving training for women.
Free Heavy Motor Vehicle training for interested women would be provided for 30 days at these training facilities. Women who are interested can sign up at the local depot. They would also be handed certificates at the district headquarters' various training centres.
In addition, the RTC has decided to offer a 20% discount on the "travel as you like" ticket. In Hyderabad, the T-24 ticket would cost Rs 80 instead of Rs 100, and in Warangal, it will cost Rs 50 instead of Rs 60. In all Ordinary and Express buses, two seats will be dedicated especially for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
A lucky winner would be chosen through a draw under the gift scheme. All bus stations and traffic generating areas would be outfitted with purple-colored boxes. Women travellers will have until March 31 to drop their tickets by writing their name and phone number in these boxes. Bajireddy Goverdhan, chairman of the Corporation, remarked, "A lucky draw will be conducted on April 2 in the bus stations and draw winners will be given a surprise gift along with a monthly season ticket to travel free anywhere within 30 km jurisdiction from the respective depot."
Women travellers are also being requested to photograph themselves holding a TSRTC ticket and send it to the WhatsApp number 9440970000. On April 2, a lucky dip will be held at Bus Bhavan, with the winners receiving a surprise present as well as a monthly season ticket that allows them to travel for free anywhere within 30 kilometres of their home.
Since Women's Day 2022, the Corporation has established a distinct mobile number 9440970000 to address grievances/complaints, particularly safety-related issues of female passengers. All TSRTC personnel, according to the Chairman, should wear purple ribbons as a sign of women's empowerment, which the TSRTC supports.
