Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha praised the role of women-led Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in maintaining cleanliness and community development in the state during an event "Swachhata Hi Seva" at Rabindra Bhavan. He praised their efforts in improving sanitation, waste management, and awareness campaigns. Dr. Manik also praised SHG's commitment to economic empowerment, highlighting their impact on women's livelihoods and social standing in their communities.

During the event, CM Saha also inaugurated a vending zone in Children's Park. He stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness in food streets. Dr. Manik mentioned "Today is the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, as well as Mahalaya. We have inaugurated a vending zone in the Children's Park. Previously, vendors used to set up their shops around the city in a scattered manner without a proper address. Discussions on this matter have been ongoing for many days. This vending zone is part of the Agartala Smart City Project Limited and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India scheme, which includes vending carts with a specific design. I have instructed all vendors to keep the city clean, which is the main objective."

Tripura CM emphasizes the importance of cleanliness in various areas, stating that it is not just the government's responsibility but everyone's. He has allocated 10 per cent of the budget to cleanliness in offices and schools, a move passed in the cabinet. Cleanliness is a continuous process requiring cooperation from all.
