Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand made history by becoming the first Indian women's doubles pair to win the Super 300 title at the Syed Modi International tournament. They defeated China's Bao Li Jing and Li Qia with a score of 21-18, 21-11 in just 40 minutes. This victory marks a significant milestone for Indian badminton, as they had previously finished as runners-up in the 2022 edition of the tournament.
The duo showcased an exhilarating performance during the semi-final against third seeds Benyapa Aimsaard and Nuntakarn Aimsaard of Thailand with 18-21, 21-18, 21-10 securing the finals in 63 minutes. Their impressive performance in the semi-finals and the finals earned them the title, making them the sole Indian representative at the event. Their best performances this year were semifinal finishes at the Singapore Open and Macau Open.
In addition to this, PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medallist, won the Syed Modi International women's singles title, marking her third title at the tournament after winning it in 2017 and 2022. The 29-year-old won 21-14, 21-16 against Wu Luo Yu, marking her return to the top of the podium after a two-year gap. In May 2024, she also made it to the finals of the Malaysia Masters Super 500.
