Tiruchi Regional Engineering College - Science and Technology Entrepreneurs (TREC-STEP) and Maheela Power, an online platform that helps women sell handmade food items, jewelry, and clothing all over the nation, collaboratively have launched a program to support local women entrepreneurs, enhancing the visibility of aspiring women entrepreneurs who produce environment-friendly sustainable products.
The workshop, organized in Tiruchi under TREC-STEP's European Union (EU) - Gender Enabling Network of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (GENIE) project includes workshops, training, knowledge about product branding and promotion in retail stores, photography, cataloging, and packaging essentials provided to 45 women entrepreneurs in Tiruchi. The initiative selected 15 women entrepreneurs and their products that were photographed, whereas 2 of them have been featured on the Maheela Power website, and promoted in retail stores, showcasing products like textile waste doormats.
SAS Strategies First's founder, Siva Subramanian, discussed packaging and product exhibitions. Bindu Balakrishnan, TREC-STEP's assistant general manager, suggested helping women entrepreneurs expand their market reach by promoting online presence. He mentioned, "From the 15 entrepreneurs, two were selected directly to be listed on the Maheela Power website; some of the others in this group have been invited to participate in the platform's exhibition to be held in Chennai in July."
