According to Sanyukta Bhatia, the mayor of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation, the groundbreaking ceremony for an exclusive all-women market is scheduled to take place on October 19. The firm has been able to commit space and frame the works behind a notion that was first put forth in March, on International Women's Day.

As the first woman to be elected as mayor of Lucknow Corporation, one of the largest municipal corporations in India, the market would be unique of its sort in Lucknow, and it grew even more distinctive as it was introduced.

The Mayor recently paid a visit to the location and provided information about the project, which would be completed by October.

Getting Things Started

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation has outlined the final guidelines for the all-women market along with a financial allocation that would guarantee the end-to-end characteristics are met as anticipated. The market will establish a setting that supports women's independence and financial development by promoting business among female entrepreneurs and dealers.

Together with the city engineer, junior engineer, and project architect, Bhatia most recently went to the location designated for the market and assessed it.

The engineers have been instructed to move forward with the initial phase of clearing the area and doing soil tests in light of the observations.

According to sources from the Business Standard, the market would be a three-story building with enough for up to 125 stores, each measuring 12.50 square metres. There would be other amenities like a 2,848 square metre subterranean parking facility that can hold 40 four-wheelers at once.

Imagining Equal Employment And Economic Participation

Bhatia stated to the media outlets that she would "would like to see actual female empowerment. They won't become empowered until they are stable financially and begin to support themselves."

She described the market as a place that would contribute to the aspiration of women's empowerment and pointed out that it would also bring about a striking change in the economic system.

In addition, she claimed that the majority of businesses in the Lucknow area are operated solely by men, creating a male dominance in terms of economic contributions. However, for the longest time, women were only allowed to work as salespeople. The only goal of the all-women market would be to provide chances for female entrepreneurs, businesswomen, and traders. The majority of the market's workforce would likewise be female.

A similar programme was started in the Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Corporation, where a retail centre was built specifically to provide jobs for women.
