The Organization of American States (OAS), through its Executive Secretariat for Integral Development (SEDI), collaborated with the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center, a non-profit dedicated to increasing inclusion and access for entrepreneurs, to provide resources and mentorship to women entrepreneurs in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Kim Osborne, the OAS executive secretary for Integral Development, praised the firm for taking this important step towards increasing women's participation in the formal economy by providing them with the tools they need to survive and thrive in a digitally advanced world.
According to Kim, they aim to create a sustainable livelihood for women while also accelerating regional economic recovery through capacity development, networking, and mentoring with stakeholders at the highest levels of business innovation.
Furthermore, Nicola Corzine, Executive Director of the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to work with the OAS, which brings 35 independent states of the Americas together to assist female entrepreneurs in defining, setting, and achieving business milestones.
The agreement was inked as part of the Small Business Administration's Women's Business Summit, which was held virtually on March 28 and 29.
According to the agreement, both parties will work together to provide free business resources and mentoring to help MSME—or Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises—grow and innovate in the region of Latin America and the Caribbean. This will include assistance with the OAS-run Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) program, the Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE) program, and other pertinent initiatives run by the Secretariat for Integral Development.
