Tirupati's Mayor, Dr. R Sirisha, inaugurated a unique training program focused on millet-based food products. The initiative, which kicked off on Monday, aims to equip women with the necessary skills to prepare millet-based food items, fostering self-employment opportunities and advocating for more nutritious eating practices.

Mayor Dr. R Sirisha underscored the significance of training women in crafting a diverse range of millet-based food products. While awareness regarding the health benefits of consuming millet is on the rise, the mayor emphasized the potential for creating a variety of delectable and nourishing millet-based dishes, which could lead to increased consumption.

Collaboratively organized by the Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs of India (COWE) and the Tirupati Chamber of Commerce (TCC), the two-day training program is taking place at the esteemed 'Bakers by Bans' establishment, located at MR Palli Circle. The training targets select members of women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) who are keen to expand their skills in crafting millet-based food items, including popular choices like cookies and cakes, which are known to have substantial demand in the market.

COWE's President, Radhika, and TCC's President, K Mohan Kumar Raju, among other dignitaries, were present at the inaugural event. The collaboration between COWE and TCC exemplifies a synergistic effort to foster women's empowerment and economic growth while also promoting healthier food choices within the community.

The importance of this initiative cannot be understated, as millets have garnered significant attention in recent years due to their nutritional benefits. Packed with essential nutrients, dietary fiber, and low-glycemic properties, millets are recognized for contributing to overall health and wellness. By providing training in millet-based food production, the initiative not only empowers women with valuable skills but also encourages a shift towards more nutritious dietary practices.

The endeavor aligns well with global and national efforts to promote sustainable and health-conscious lifestyles. As Tirupati's women embark on this journey of skill enhancement and healthier food production, the initiative sets a positive precedent for the community's overall well-being and economic growth.
