Filmmaker Payal Kapadia Wins Grand Prix Prize at Cannes Film Festival
Filmmaker Payal Kapadia has created history by becoming the first Indian director to win the prestigious Grand Prix prize at the Cannes Film Festival. Her Malayalam-language movie "All We Imagine as Light" won the prestigious honor, which is the second-most prestigious award, after the Palme d'Or. Payal’s movie “All We Imagine as Light" was the first Indian film to be featured in the main competition in the last 30 years. Screened on Thursday, it is also the only movie made by an Indian female director to reach the top spot.
Indian Peacekeeper Major Radhika Sen to Receive UN Military Gender Advocate Award
Indian peacekeeper, Major Radhika Sen is set to receive the 2023 United Nations Military Gender Advocate of the Year Award. She served with the UN Organisation Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO). She was the Commander of MONUSCO's Engagement Platoon for the Indian Rapid Deployment Battalion (INDRDB). She actively engaged with conflict-affected communities, including women and girls, in an escalating conflict environment in North Kivu.
Sikkim HC grants Menstrual Leave Policy for Female Employees
The Sikkim High Court has introduced a menstrual leave policy for its women employees, granting them 2-3 days of leave each month, subject to medical recommendation from the High Court's Medical Officer and not counted against their overall leave balance, making it the first Indian High Court to do so in regards of women's health and well-being.

Bold & Bae Fashion, a Mumbai-based women's apparel startup, has partnered with schools to address menstrual health and hygiene concerns, aiming to prevent girls from missing out on education due to lack of access to sanitary pads and provide them appropriate guidance on hygiene concerns. Bold & Bae has partnered with several Mumbai schools, marking its long-term commitment to promoting education and empowering children. Schools including, Gandhi Memorial English High School & Junior College, BSIAS School, and Mother Teresa School have partnered to appreciate this effort.
BCCI announces Indian Women's Squad for Multi-Format Series against South Africa
The BCCI has announced India's women's cricket team for the ODI, T20I, and Test series against South Africa. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the Indian team in the upcoming multi-format series that will commence on 16 June 2024 and end on 9 July 2024, consisting of a 3-match ODI, a one-off Test match, and three T20Is. Smriti Mandhana will be the vice-captain of the team. The South African women's cricket team will travel to India for the month-long series.
