2nd G20 EMPOWER summit to happen in Thiruvananthapuram announces Ministry of Women & Child Development

The Ministry of Women and Child Development said that the second G20 EMPOWER summit, held in Thiruvananthapuram from April 4-6, will carry forward the nation's women-led development agenda under India's year-long chairmanship. On February 11 and 12, the inaugural G20 EMPOWER meeting took place in Agra, Uttar Pradesh.

"The G20 Alliance for the Empowerment and Progression of Women's Economic Representation (EMPOWER) is an association of G20 corporate executives and governments that seeks to hasten women's advancement in leadership and empowerment in the private sector. The G20 EMPOWER 2023 initiative, which will be led by India, intends to further India's women-driven development agenda, according to the statement.

The Australian women's cricket team now has a new five-year pay structure that will boost their earnings in the Women's Premier League of India and The Hundred in England. According to the agreement, the women cricketers who hold top-tier contracts and participate in the Women's Big Bash League will be able to make A$800,000 annually and will also see a headline funding increase of 66%. In a news release, CA's chief executive, Nick Hockley, expressed his joy at taking this significant step that gives women a lot of possibilities in all sports-related fields.

Sophia Solanki founded AI Content Marketing Platform Narrato Raises $1Mn Pre-seed

AI content creation and collaboration platform Narrato  today announced a $1M pre-seed round, led by AirTree Ventures,  a leading venture capital firm with a portfolio of breakout tech companies including Canva, Linktree, Immutable and Employment Hero among others. The round also saw participation from community powered global venture fund TheFund and several marquee angel investors, including Ruchi Kalra and Bhuvan Gupta, co-founders of OfBusiness, and Shreesha Ramdas, a serial entrepreneur. The company said it will use the funds to further develop and enhance its platform and simultaneously invest in marketing to penetrate further in the US market.

Saina Nehwal, B Sai Praneeth to lead India's attack in Orleans Masters in France

Former Olympic medallist Saina Nehwal and B. Sai Praneeth, the former World Championships bronze medallist will lead Indian shuttlers competing at the Orleans Masters, to be held in Orleans, France. The Orleans Masters is a Super 300 level badminton tournament that will take place in Palais Des Sports this week.

P.V. Sindhu who was the runner-up at the Madrid Spain Masters last week, and the top doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty, pulled out of the tournament. Therefore, no Indian player entered the event as a seeded player.

World no. 7 Carlona Marin, is the top seed in women’s singles and Kenta Nishimoto from Japan is leading the pack in men’s singles.

AP has highest Female Workers & Internship seekers ratio finds The India Skills Report

According to the India Skills Report 2023, Andhra Pradesh is the State with the most people looking for internships, the State with the most women working, and one of the top five States with the highest availability of numerical skills.

The Wheebox National Employability Test (WNET), which was taken by 3.75 lakh people nationwide, is the basis for the report. Its foundation is a collaboration with several academic institutions and organizations. Candidates are put to the exam via WNET for the competencies and abilities required to be employed in a socioeconomic environment that is changing quickly.

Over 1,44,787 women entrepreneurs benefit from the Stand Up India Scheme

The Stand Up India Scheme has sanctioned loans to more than 1,80,000 entrepreneurs worth Rs 40,000 crore over the last seven years, according to the finance ministry. On 5 April 2016, this scheme was launched to promote the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and women entrepreneurs who are at the grassroots level providing an emphasis on economic empowerment and employment creation.

The Stand Up India Scheme has been extended till 2025 which was decided in 2019-20. In the first six years of this scheme, a total of Rs 30,160 crore loan was granted which implies that over Rs 10,000 crore loan has been sanctioned over a year.

City of Chennai gets Six More All Women Police Stations

Chennai City police commissioner, Shankar Jiwal inaugurated six more all-women police stations in the city on Wednesday. The new all-women stations are at Kotturpuram, Taramani, Neelankarai, Meenambakkam, Puzhal, and Koyambedu. The city of Chennai has 101 law and order police stations and crime police stations each. 37 of these are all-women police stations now.

Each of the new all-women police stations will house one inspector of police and eight other police personnel including sub-inspectors of police, head constables, and constables. “They have created these new police stations according to recommendations forwarded to the state home department,” said Shankar Jiwal.

Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel proclaims grants for Women's-Groups, Gauthan-committees, & Cattle-rearers

Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel virtually handed Rs 5.32 crore to cattle rearers, women groups, and Gauthan committees as part of the Godhan Nyay Yojana.

This includes dividend payments of Rs. 1.43 crore to Gauthan committees and Rs. 98 lakh to women's organizations as well as payment of Rs. 2.91 crores instead of 1.45 lakh quintals of cow dung acquired from March 16 to March 31.
