The Week That Was: Indian Women Empowerment News Overview (27 Jan - 1 Feb)

Breaking years of stereotypes, Indian women are proving they are excellent home-makers and businesswomen. In the recent decade, the rise of females in the corporate world has been witnessed, showing that they are in the right direction. Besides these women’s progress, the country is also contributing to help females grow by launching initiatives like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, MUDRA Yojana, and SHG-based entrepreneurship programs, among others. From corporate to politics, women can be seen everywhere, reclaiming their value by becoming decision-makers in families, communities, and workplaces.

ASUSE 2023-24 Reports 58% of Indian Manufacturing Establishments led by Women

The Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE) 2023-24 revealed that around 58 per cent of manufacturing establishments were led by female proprietors, a 4 percentage point increase from the previous year.

The ASUSE report further revealed that 28.1 per cent of workers were females, including 33.7 per cent of won account enterprises (OAEs) during the year 2023-24. The report highlighted the growing presence of women in the entrepreneurial landscape showcasing the significance of gender equity in economic development and the effectiveness of initiatives empowering women entrepreneurs.

The Union Budget 2025 is all set to be presented today, February 1, Saturday by India's Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at the Parliament at 11 a.m. The FM will present her eighth (8th) consecutive budget session, making her the first finance minister to achieve this milestone.
