SCERT Conducts 3-Day Workshop on Empowering Women Leaders

The State Leadership Academy (SLA) of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) conducted a three-day capacity building program at Bemina in Srinagar. The aim of the program was to strengthen women leaders who work with Socially and Economically Deprived Groups (SEDG).

The program was attended by several Zonal Education Officers, Headmasters, and Hostel Wardens from Kasturba Gandhi BalikaVidyalaya (KGBV) from across all the districts of the Kashmir Division.Abdul HamdiFani, Chief Education Officer, Kupwara, distributed certificates of participation among the attendeesat the valedictory ceremony.

Diverse Cinema Founder SwetaRai Wins Women Impact Tech award

SwetaRai, CEO and Founder of Diverse Cinema, was conferred with the 'Women Impact Tech' award. She was chosen among top 50 American women in San Francisco and Sweta was listed in the technology sector for bringing diverse voices forward in cinema. Sweta will receive the award in San Francisco on March 21, 2023.

President Murmu Inaugurates Dussehra festivities in Mysuru; Highlights Need for Women Empowerment

Indian President Draupadi Murmu inaugurated the renowned festival of Dussehra in Mysuru. President Murmu lit the lamp and offered floral tributes to Goddess Chamundeshwari on Chamundi Hills thus declaring the festivities open.

Speaking on the occasion President Murmu said in her address, “Since time immemorial, festivals have been connecting people. The presence of diversity elevates the respect of India. The spiritual heritage of Karnataka includes the legacy of Buddhism, Jainism, Adi Shankaracharya established Sringeri Mutt, Kalaburagi is known as the centre of Sufi saints.”

The President, who is India’s first Adivasi President also invoked the spirit of 12th century social revolutionaries Basavanna, Allama Prabhu, Akka Mahadevi, who founded the ‘Anubhav Mantap’ to eradicate the caste system. The revolutionaries also gave ‘vachanas’ which are still being revered. There were 35 women poets who contributed to vachanas, she President Murmu.

American Express and NASSCOM Foundation Team Up to Provide Digital Skills to 700 Women from Underserved Communities

NASSCOM Foundation and American Express have teamed together to teach and upskill 700 women graduates through an employment-linked training project, "Women Empowerment Through Technology," laying the groundwork for closing the gender gap in digital skill. As part of this project, American Express and the NASSCOM Foundation are collaborating with the Friends Union for Energizing Lives (FUEL) and the Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship (RCED) to provide women with training in entrepreneurship and technology-based skill development.

"There has been a substantial uptake of technology across all businesses under Covid, but at the same time, the digital skill gap has become broader due to a lack of facilities and financial aid," said Ruchika Panesar, Vice President and Head of Technology at American Express India.

Indian Women's Rights Activist Wins

The UN SDG Action Awards have recognised an Indian woman's rights activist who travelled 3,800 kilometres across the length of the nation in less than a year to promote awareness of gender-based violence and inequality. At the UN SDG Action Awards, Srishti Bakshi, a former marketer who is now a women's rights activist, received the "Changemaker" award for "confronting gender-based violence and pushing for safe access to public spaces."

The SDG Action Campaign said in a statement that the Awards, a centrepiece of the UN SDG Action Campaign, sought initiatives that 'Mobilise, Inspire and Connect' people to drive action towards a more sustainable future on a healthy planet as well as those that are flipping the script and rethinking "how we live."

According to Great Place to Work India, Wipro is among the best workplaces for women in India. A global platform called Great Place to Work is dedicated to creating, maintaining, and honouring high-trust and high-performance cultures.

Before settling on 10,000 organisations each year, it investigates companies, nonprofits, and governmental institutions in 60 nations across six continents.

The study claims that it was chosen because it succeeded in a number of areas, including having at least 10% of its workforce be female and having at least 70% of its female employees provide favourable feedback. Other areas where the IT firm excelled were exceptional working conditions, gender equity, and equitable representation at all levels.

Aakash BYJU's Launches 'Education For All' Initiative Towards Inclusivity And Girl Child Empowerment

To honour the Government of India's Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative, Aakash BYJU'S, the national leader in test preparation services, is organising a significant drive towards inclusivity and empowerment of girl students in the realm of private coaching for higher education through "Education for All," a national project to provide free NEET and JEE coaching and scholarships to nearly 2,000 Class VII-XII students from disadvantaged families, especially girls.

According to the plan, all selected students would show up for the Aakash BYJU'S National Talent Hunt Exam - 2022 (ANTHE 2022), the institute's premier scholarship test, which will be offered both online and offline from November 5 through 13, 2022, across the nation.

Based on unique criteria, the top 2,000 students will receive free tutoring for the most sought-after NEET and IIT-JEE coaching programmes at Aakash BYJU.
