It's Women's Week. Nikhat Zareen, a young girl, had a successful week. At the Women's World Boxing Championships in Istanbul, she won gold in the 52kg division. Not only that, but Labor Minister Elisabeth Borne became France's first female prime minister in 30 years this week. Guwahati Hosts Workshop on Women's Empowerment through Poultry Farming
In Guwahati, Assam, a session on women's empowerment through poultry farming was recently organised.
The session, "Empowering Women through Capacity Building in Good Poultry Farm Management," took place in Guwahati at the Directorate of Extension Education of Assam Agriculture University.
The national commission for women in New Delhi supported the workshop/training session.
iStem dermaceutical Launches 1st Beyond Beauty 2022 Season to Empower Indian Women
Dr. Lita Mohapatra, founder of iStem dermaceutical, has successfully organised the first season of the show 'Beyondbeauty2022.'
The #BeyondBeauty contest aimed to empower Indian women. This seven-event audition series, held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, was held to find fresh faces for the company's ad campaign.
Ten participants were chosen from several universities, including KIIT University, Sri Sri University, Birla Global University, IBCS SOA University, and XIM, Bhubaneswar.
The grand finale of the seven series events was held in Bhubaneswar's Mayfair Lagoon. The judging panel included Dr Lita Mohapatra, founder of iSTEM dermaceutical, Zubina Ali, founder of Zuby's Fashion, Dr Rosalin Patasani Mishra, founder of Parichay foundation, Master Chef of Odisha- Smrutishree Singh, and Ollywood star Elina Samantray.
Girl Empowerment Mission of NTPC Empowers Girls in Various Project Locations across the Country
NTPC Ltd, India's largest integrated energy firm, has been recognised for its commitment to the empowerment of girls, particularly those from communities near NTPC facilities. It also intends to carry out its GEM programme in around 35 project areas this year. In 2018, NTPC launched the Girl empowerment Mission (GEM) programme, which has helped to empower disadvantaged girls in the neighbourhood of its project sites.
GEM has empowered girls all around the country by teaching them about fundamental education, health, and self-defense. NTPC hopes to break the glass ceiling for these women and dispel the myth of female foeticide in rural areas with this initiative.
Female Farmers from West Bengal Receive Award from PepsiCo & USAID for Overcoming Stereotypes
As part of its 'Women's Land Rights and Economic Empowerment' activity in West Bengal, PepsiCo and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) recognised and awarded six women farmers.
At a special felicitation celebration held at PepsiCo's foods manufacturing factory in Kolkata, Ronald Verdonk, Minister Counselor for Agricultural Affairs, U.S. Embassy, and Melinda Pavek, Consul General, U.S. Consulate General, Kolkata, presented the awards.
The farmers were chosen for their outstanding contributions to agriculture and for challenging stereotypes in their communities. PepsiCo in India, as a 'Agri' firm at heart, has been trying to improve the lives of farmers, particularly women.

The Lokmat Media Group hosted the ninth edition of the 'Lokmat Women Summit- Udne ki Asha' in Nagpur with the goal of inspiring women to achieve their goals.

Labour Minister Elisabeth Borne Becomes France's 1st Female PM in 30 years
As he prepares for legislative elections in June, French President Emmanuel Macron nominated Labour Minister Elisabeth Borne as his next prime minister, the second woman to hold the position in 30 years.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Jean Castex resigned, paving the door for a government reshuffle following Macron's re-election in April.
Macron has been looking for a premier with green and social policy credentials, as he has to demonstrate that he has understood the complaints of voters indicated by low turnout and strong support for the far right and far left.
NCW Hosts Workshop to Address Women's Issues & Representation of Women in Media
The National Commission for Women held a workshop titled "Capacity Building and Sensitization Program for Media Personnel" to draw attention to women's issues and the representation of women in the media.
The media is critical in raising awareness about gender-based issues and in establishing a narrative for ethical coverage of gender-sensitive news.

Nikhat Zareen of India Wins Gold in the Women's World Boxing Championships
Nikhat Zareen of India won the gold medal in the 52kg division at the Women's World Boxing Championships in Istanbul, Turkey on Thursday, defeating Thailand's Jitpong Jutamas in the fly-weight final. Nikhat therefore becomes the sixth Indian woman to win a gold medal at the World Championships, following Mary Kom, Sarita Devi, Jenny RL, and Lekha KC. Zareen, who is 25, is a former junior young world champion. Nikhat battled brilliantly in the final against her Thai opponent and won the gold medal. The judges awarded the Indian a 30-27, 29-28, 29-28, 30-27, 29-28 victory.
Women's Entrepreneurship in J&K has been Revolutionized by the Inclusion of 4 lakh Women in 48,000 SHGs
In Jammu and Kashmir, the inclusion of four lakh women in over 48,000 Self Help Groups (SHGs) under the Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (UMEED) has revolutionised women entrepreneurship at the grassroots level.
The J&K government, led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, is committed to providing women entrepreneurs from SHGs with access to capital, quality mentorship for re-skilling and new-skilling, and assistance in reaching new markets.
According to an official spokesperson, "the government has taken a holistic approach to developing a women entrepreneur ecosystem to connect, collaborate, and invent for scaling up business and building a strong women workforce. " The bottom-up structures are being strengthened for women and youth to create empowered individuals in Jammu and Kashmir, he said adding that “They have resources available to create smarter enterprises and shape the community around them in extraordinary ways.”
