P&G India & Centre For Civil Society flag-off Women In STEM Caravan roadshow on International Day for Women and Girls in Science

Procter and Gamble India (P&G India) and Centre For Civil Society flagged off a first-of-its-kind ‘Women In STEM Caravan’ on February 11th- a multi-city roadshow that brought together key stakeholders to advance women's participation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) trades. The roadshow, officially recognized as a part of the G20 events, commenced in New Delhi on International Day for Women and Girls in Science, with a high-powered ‘Women in STEM: Policy, Practice & Interventions’ roundtable conference focused on policy provisions, ground realities, role of corporates and direct interventions for advancing women’s representation in STEM opportunities.

President Draupadi Murmu presented with ODOPs at Civic Reception in Lucknow

A civic event was held on Sunday in the Lok Bhavan auditorium to mark President Draupadi Murmu's arrival in Lucknow. The President was welcomed by the representatives who presented her gifts from ODOP, also called One District-One Product. President Draupadi was also felicitated by Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on behalf of the state’s 25 crore people.
She addressed the residents about women’s empowerment and self-reliance to be implemented in the state and also mentioned the women personalities of Uttar Pradesh as her role models. The city is a part of the 'Kosala' district which is linked to Lord Shri Ram. She also praised former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna late Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Hyundai Motors engages Two Additional Female Cricketers as Brand Ambassadors

Yastika Bhatia and Renuka Singh Thakur have been added to the roster of brand ambassadors for Hyundai Motor India Ltd. Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, and Jemimah Rodrigues will be joined by Bhatia and Thakur.

The organisation claimed that it recognises these ladies as up-and-coming athletes and that they will be a driving force behind the 2023 women's cricket schedule. WPL: Sania Mirza Appointed team Mentor for Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore has appointed Sania Mirza as their coach for the first Women's Premier League (WPL), which will be held in Mumbai from March 4 to 26.

The team also disclosed that Australian Ben Sawyer had been hired as head coach. Ben, who currently serves as the head coach of the New Zealand Women, served as an assistant coach on Australia's Women's World Cup-winning team in 2017.

Former Tamil Nadu offspinner and chief talent scout Malolan Rangarajan has been appointed assistant coach, and former India batter VR Vanitha has been appointed fielding coach.

RX Murali has also joined the team as a strength coach. Having assisted in the training of various Karnataka players, Mayank Agarwal being one of the more well-known names in recent years, RX Murali has amassed an amazing body of work locally in Bengaluru.

PIL for Menstrual Pain Leave to be heard in Supreme Court on 24 February

Denial of Menstrual Pain leaves is a violation of women's right to equality under Article 14 of the Constitution. A PIL has requested the Supreme Court regarding leaves for menstrual pain of women who are students and working in different firms. On Wednesday the request has been accepted by the court and the appeal will be heard on February 24 by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.

The petition mentions about the ignorance of society, the government, and other stakeholders towards the menstrual cycle but some firms and state governments have taken it to notice, says Advocate Vishal Tiwari. It also mentioned the organizations that grant paid period leaves which include, Byju's, Zomato, FlyMyBiz, Ivipanan, Swiggy, Magzter, Gozoop, Mathrubhumi, ARC, and Industry.

Indian Womens Handball team dominates at AFH Womens President Cup

The AFH Women's President Cup, which was formerly known as the West Asian Women's Handball Championship was held in the Princess Sumaya Hall in Amman, Jordan.

The tournament was a double round-robin format where the teams faced each other two times. It was held from 7 to 14 February. Four teams were featured in the tournament namely Jordan, India, Kuwait, and Iraq.

The Indian team dominated the entire competition and won all six matches taking the trophy home. Team India defeated Kuwait (41:15, 40:12), Iraq (40:13, 35:23), and Jordan (37:21, 28:21).

Team Jordan was positioned as second with a loss in both matches against India. They won against Iraq (31:27, 28:20) and Kuwait (35:16, 28:15) and grabbed 8 points.

Women Snow Cricket Tournament organized by Indian Army in Kupwara

The Indian Army held a Women's Snow Cricket competition in the Panzgam village of North Kashmir in the Kupwara district, as a part of the Khelo India initiative on Thursday, 16 February 2023.

Young females of the Kupwara district participated in the tournament and showcased their gameplay in the snowy fields. Four teams were present from Kralpora and Meelyal Block.

The young girls played the matches with utmost enthusiasm and represented their teams. This tournament was held for the first time in this area which was witnessed by public representatives and locals, said by the Army.

Khelo India Women's Weightlifting & Cycling competitions to be held in February

The Patliputra Sports Complex, Kankarbagh, Patna will host the Khelo India National Ranking Women Weightlifting Competition for Senior, Junior & Youth Women (3rd Phase) from February 18–24. The women's competitions are held as part of Khelo India Sports for Women, a key initiative of the Indian government.

The Directorate of Sports and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports provide funding for these competitions. Three women's weightlifting competitions will receive a total of Rs. 1.47 crore, including Rs. 48.3 lakh each for the top eight weightlifters in each of the 10 weight categories across all age divisions.

Pink Passes for Women in Delhi Government Buses Surpasses 100 Crore Mark

In the national capital, 100 crore Pink bus tickets for women have been distributed as of Friday, according to an official announcement.

According to the announcement, "In 2022, free travel for women via Pink tickets contributed to roughly 32% of the total number of passengers travelling in a month."

The number of passengers using Delhi buses (DTC and DIMTS combined) is gradually reverting to its pre-COVID levels.

"About 160 crore passengers rode Delhi buses in 2019–20. It decreased to 71 crores in 2020–2021 as a result of COVID, only marginally recovering to 93 crores in 2021–2022. Over 75% of the pre-Covid numbers have been attained since April 2022 to today, according to the announcement.
