In a First India Wins Women's Hockey Junior Asia Cup 2023 Title in Japan

The Indian hockey team lifted the Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2023 cup after registering a 2-1 win over the Republic of Korea in the finals. The hockey tournament was being held in Kakamigahara, Japan.

This was India’s maiden win in the Women's Junior Asia Cup. The Indian team had already secured a spot in the FIH Women's Junior World Cup 2023 in Chile. Host team Japan won over China 2-1 to become the third team to qualify for the World Cup.

The final match saw India’s Annu (21') and Neelam (40’) score Korea’s only goal was scored by Seoyeon Park (24’).

Women Win 458 Ward Councilor, Mayor & Deputy Mayor Posts in Bihar Municipal Elections

The Bihar Municipal Elections were conducted on 9 June 2023 in which women won 458 ward councilor positions as well as the Mayor and Deputy Mayor positions.

In addition to this, 347 male candidates have also been elected for various positions in 31 municipalities across 21 districts by the Bihar State Election Commission (SEC).

South Indian Women Empower Street Vendor Entrepreneurship Through PM-SVANidhi Scheme

South Indian women are leading the way in availing loans for street vendors under the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM-SVANidhi) scheme. Out of the 3.63 million beneficiaries of the project, a significant 1.50 million are women, accounting for approximately 41% of the total beneficiaries. Southern states such as Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka have emerged as champions in promoting women street vendors, with higher proportions of women beneficiaries than men.

PV Sindhu, HS Prannoy leads India at the Indonesian Open 2023

The Indonesian Open 2023 will have a kick-off start from June 13 to June 18 2023 in Jakarta. This six-day tournament is the third Badminton World Federation (BWF) Super 1000 event of the season which comes after the Malaysia Open and England Open.

This year's tournament will see some of the top Indian badminton players including PV Sindhu, HS Prannoy, Saina Nehwal, and Kidambi Srikanth. They will lead the Indian contingent as the top players of India.

Dr Neha Sharma Chowdhury, the Head of Marketing at Modern Group of Institutions & Industries in Indore, has been honoured with the prestigious Sheros Shakti Samman Award for her remarkable achievements. According to KT Rama Rao, Focus on Women's Welfare in Telangana

K.T. Rama Rao who is the Working President of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Telangana says that Telangana has become a model state for the entire country of India in terms of Women's Welfare.

As Telangana observed Women's Welfare Day which is also a part of the state's Formation Day celebrations, the BRS leader used the social media platform Twitter to express his views on the state government’s programs for women's welfare.

Women 20 Summit Conducted at Mamallapuram

The Jan Bhagidari (Citizens' Connect) event was held in Mahabalipuram by Women 20, the G20's official engagement group on Wednesday. The summit, with the theme "Women-Led Development- Transform, Thrive, and Transcend," will take place on Friday.

The National Rural Livelihood Mission, the Tamil Nadu Department of Rural Development, and the Central Ministry of Rural Development, all three of them will provide support to the citizen connect event with the theme "The Journey of Empowerment." The delegates listened to the stories of women from all over the nation during the event.

Indian Women's Blind Cricket Team to compete in IBSA World Games

The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) has released a statement mentioning their participation in the Birmingham 2023 edition of the World Games of the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA). Blind cricket has been added to the World Games for the first time, and the competition is all set to take place from August 18 to 27. Indian men's and women's blind teams have already registered their names for the competition. In Bengaluru, proper training sessions are expected to be conducted for the teams in the coming months.

Women's Sport's Careers Session organized at AMU

On June 13, a session with Professor Sharmistha Banarjee from the Department of Management at the University of Calcutta was organized by the Department of Physical Education at Aligarh Muslim University. The title of this session was "Sports as a Career for Women: Impetus and Impediments," which focused on the disparities that still exist in women's sports and potential options for the female athlete career.

Lalitha Natarajan, supporter of Children's Rights receives the 2023 Iqbal Masih Award

The 2023 Iqbal Masih Award for the Elimination of Child Labour has been presented to Lalitha Natarajan by the US Department of Labour. Lalitha Natarajan is an activist and lawyer based in Chennai. At a ceremony on May 30 at the US Consulate General in Chennai, Lalitha received the award from Consul General Judith Ravin.
