Jhulan Goswami to mentor Mumbai Indians' women team for upcoming WPL

Jhulan Goswami, veteran bowler who recently retired has been given the dual responsibility of mentor and bowling coach for Mumbai Indians for the Women's Premier League (WPL).

Charlotte Edwards, former England women's team captain and the second-highest run scorer in women's ODIs and Tests has been made the head coach of MI for the first edition of WPL to be held in March.

Former India all-rounder DeviekaPalshikaar has been roped in as the batting coach and Trupti Chandgadkar Bhattacharya has been given the responsibility of team manager.

Jhulan is a Padma Shri awardee who retired last year after the series against England. She has more than 350 international wickets in a career spanning more than two decades.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman speaks about US-India Strategic Partnership Forum Members following the Post-Budget Debrief

Nirmala Sitaraman, the finance minister of India explained Budget 2023 with discussions about the government's aims and policies, emphasizing green energy, the digital economy, infrastructure, and upliftment in the workforce, particularly with an emphasis on youth and women. Ms. Niramala was welcomed to the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) for an online Post-Budget discussion with the captains of industry and top financial services executives. Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu was also welcomed by the USISPF as India's Envoy to the United States.

The USISPF's dedicated tax policy program, the US-India Tax Forum, was honored to call the Ministry of Finance in November 2022 to discuss the business views on tax proposals for the budget 2023-2024, said the President and CEO of USISPF, Mukesh Aghi.

LC Victoria Gowri takes oath as Madras High Court Judge; SC Rejects Petition Opposing Appointment

The petitions opposing the appointment of attorney Lakshmana Chandra Victoria Gowri as a judge of the Madras High Court were dismissed by the Supreme Court. the ruling of the supreme court following Gowri's oath of office as a Madras High Court judge.

The case was heard by a bench presided over by Chief Justice of India (CJI), DY Chandrachud. Earlier, the case was scheduled to be heard by a panel of judges Sanjeev Khanna and MM Sundresh.

The hearing took place on the day when Lakshmana was supposed to take his oath of office as a new judge. She and four other people were appointed. Her appointment was announced by the Union government as a result of a recommendation by the highest court collegium.

Jio & GSMA Launch Digital Skilling Program to Assist Rural Women and Individuals

National Digital Skills Program has been rolled out throughout India by Reliance Jio and the GSM Association (GSMA) a telecom association based in London. This initiative has been taken as a part of the broader GSMA Connected Women Commitment Initiative. Jio released a statement on Tuesday stating that this initiative has been taken to assist rural women and individuals and provide them with training about the effective usage of digital access. With a focus on reaching women and low-income groups, currently, the program has been rolled out in 10 states. In the next few months, this program will be rolled out throughout the nation as Reliance Foundation has been supporting these initiatives.

About 41% of Indian women do not use or very keep very less usage of mobile internet as per the GSMA Mobile Gender Gap Report 2022.

India loses 1-3 against Nepal in SAFF U20 Women's Championship

U-20 Women's Team India faced a loss of 1-3 against Nepal in the second half of their match on Tuesday at the Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Dhaka failing to secure the finals. With seven points from three games, Bangladesh won the group stage, followed by Nepal with six points and India securing four points. The two-half match was a head-to-head competition as in the first half India dominated while in the second half, Nepal fought back. Team India tried their best to secure the leading position as Apurna Narzary showcased her moves to break the time which gave team India an advantage but Nepal ensured their finals with goals from Anjali Chand, Preeti Rai, and Amisha Karki.

The members of team India gave tough competition to their opponents, Kajol Dsouza passed the ball to Sumati Kumari who attempted a low cross across the goal for the striker to tap in from point-blank range.

Navisite is a program that aims at closing gender gaps in tech and encourages young women to fulfill their dreams in STEM which are Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Today through this program two women participants have been finalized as the winners. Sonam Khera from Nainital, Uttarakhand, and Sangem Prasanna from Nizamabad, Telangana have been shortlisted as the winners and for their higher education in STEM, each of them will receive an amount of 1,00,000 INR.

President Droupadi Murmu urges Women's Empowerment

President Droupadi Murmu stated that "we need to shift the idea that raising children and taking care of the home is only the job of women."

She added that families would only be empowered by the empowerment of women and that empowered families would result in an empowered society and an enabled nation.

 She said that a woman should receive more help from her family so that she could advance to the highest office in her career without any obstacles.

SmtDroupadi Murmu launches National Convention on Women as the Foundation of Value Based Society

At the Om Shanti Retreat Center of Brahmakumaris in Gurugram today, the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, opened a National Convention on "Women as Foundation of Value-based Society" and started an all-India awareness campaign titled "Empowering the Family."

Speaking at the event, the President emphasised the importance of the theme of the current National Convention, which is "Women as the Foundation of a Value-based Society." The ideals and ethics of Indian society have been greatly influenced by women. She expressed pleasure over the Brahmakumaris organization's efforts to resurrect Indian ideals by prioritising women.
