Anshukam, a two-day textile and handloom event, is being organised in the national capital of Delhi by the FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO), the top organisation for businesswomen in the nation, in an effort to give weavers direct access to the markets in both India and overseas.
"The two-day 'Anshukam' event, with the subject 'Weaving Stories Through threads,' will connect local and foreign consumers, designers, exporters, and e-commerce with weavers and craftsmen from different areas of the country. According to Ms. Jyanti Dalmia, President of the FICCI Ladies Organization, the event would also help makers of handloom and textiles establish market connections and promote new goods and services.
The textile and handloom industry in India is among the biggest in the world and is regarded as the country's second-largest source of income after agriculture. It is among the largest and oldest cottage industries in the nation. Traditional weaving techniques used by generations of artisans to create beautiful fabric designs are a part of textile and handloom. According to Ms. Dalmia, Indian craftsmen are now renowned throughout the world for their elegant hand spinning, weaving, and printing.
FLO is organising this event to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India's independence through Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. This event will significantly improve the livelihoods of our textile and handloom weavers, instil pride in our weaving community, and ensure the survival of our cultural heritage.
This industry needed fresh concepts to market the sector in creative ways and to advance the textile and handloom industries through successful marketing. Ms. Dalmia said.
FLO is one of the oldest and most well-known chambers of commerce, serving female professionals and entrepreneurs through 19 chapters around India in addition to the headquarters in Delhi. Added Ms. Dalmia.
The two-day event's main attractions, according to Ms. Madhuri Halwasiya, FLO national initiative head for Textile and Handlooms, will be "stalls put up by artisans and designers showcasing the latest trends in textiles and handlooms from various states in the country, series of fashion shows, talk shows, screening of documentaries, Ikebana demonstration inspired by textiles, Organic dying work, textile painting show, and cultural events."
With the help of the Narendra Modi-led government's initiatives, Indian handloom is once again in the spotlight. In addition to government measures, there are also individual actions. As part of the initiative, various well-known designers and fashion authorities will use regional handloom materials in the Two-day Anshukam to promote the fashion industry. Added Ms. Halwasiya.
