The BCC Workplace Equity Commission has been launched by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) including Mark Hodgkinson, CEO of Scope, Ayesha Hazarika MBE, Jude Kelly, founder and CEO of Women of the World, and Stonewall Chair Lain Anderson.
In order to advance the ED&I Agenda in the Workplace, the group will include representatives from the UK and international Chamber networks, business leaders, and national experts who will provide their recommendations for the government and other businesses.
The Commission will consider the intersectionality of these factors as it examines workplace equity from a variety of perspectives, including age, disability, race, gender, and LGBTQ+. In addition to this, it will also examine how employers can be assisted to develop their skills and potential. To advance inclusivity, diversity, and equality throughout the UK economy, the BCC has produced a great channel of work. It comprises a three-year workplace equity campaign that was inspired by the results of a 4,000-person survey conducted as a part of the BCC International Women's Day research.
The Commission will meet for the first time on 19 September 2023 and proceed with its investigation for a year.
The Director General of the BCC, Shevaun Haviland said that workplaces with true equity are not only important for society but also for functioning in a healthy economy. Also, this company aims to deliver a realistic and ambitious ED&I roadmap for businesses and the government.
