Telangana Government establish Women's Safety Committee

The Women and Child Welfare Minister of Telangana Dansari Anasuya popularly known as Seethakka on Tuesday revealed that she has set up a special committee to improve the safety of women. The decision to form this committee was said and done a review meeting in the Secretariat by the minister, when he described the composition of the committee as well as its functions.

The new committee will consist of women ministers and officials to show that the government cares for women’s safety concerns from various angles. Our Minister Anasuya will support and instill the significance of framing both the ‘short-term strategies’ and the ‘big picture’ to bring the change. She stressed that such plans should call for radical changes in each nation’s recognized expressed image and behavior and began stressing awareness drives in schools and other establishments.

The minister also instructed the officials to coordinate with the Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to give support to the initiative. India has voluntary membership, Primary membership is 63 lakhs out of these only SHGs can ensure the safety measures implementation. Also on the same note, social action committees will be created at the village level to enhance the achievement of the intended agenda.

 As a way of combating the causes of harassment, the meeting agreed to initiate gender-specific awareness creation for men. Such campaigns will target stopping harassment and respecting women.

The meeting was attended sometimes by specimens like Women and Child Welfare Department secretary Vakati Karuna, Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) CEO Divya Devarajan, Women Security DG Shikha Goyal, and DIG Rema Rajeshwari.
