Nara Lokesh, TDP national general secretary and MLC, has urged the YSRCP administration to withdraw the GO No. 59 and stop converting women welfare secretaries of village and ward secretariats into women police constables. Lokesh urged the government not to jeopardise the lives of the women welfare secretaries, who were not interested in wearing khaki at this time.
In their official job descriptions, they were assigned to women's welfare operations, but now they were being expected to take on policing tasks as well.
Lokesh asked the Chief Minister not to embarrass or hurt the women welfare secretaries with his 'Tughlaq decisions' in a statement issued here on Sunday. The GO No. 59, which was issued on June 23, was completely irrational and should be repealed.
The female secretaries have raised serious objections to this in front of their bosses and top officials, who have so far failed to offer any solutions. He claimed that the women's welfare secretaries had written to him, requesting his party's cooperation in launching an anti-GO 59 campaign on their behalf. The government should favourably consider their request to subsume their services under the women and child welfare department.
He believes that GO 59 should be repealed since it was in breach of the job announcement upon which the recruiting was based.
