TATA WPL 2025: Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeat Mumbai Indians by 11 runs, End of League Phase

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured an 11-run victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) in Match 20 of the TATA Women's Premier League 2025, sending Delhi Capitals (DC) into the Final and MI and Gujarat Giants (GG) into the Eliminator. The victory was aided by Smriti Mandhana's half-century and Ellyse Perry's 49*.

With this match, the tournament has completed its league phase and is moving towards the eliminator between MI and GG at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, on Thursday, 13 March. The winning team from the eliminator will compete with DC on Saturday, 15 March, for the ultimate title.

Winning the toss, MI skipper Harmanpreet Kaur elected to field first. RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana (53 off 37) and S. Meghana (26 off 13) started the game with a strong start, scoring 41 runs in the first 3.3 overs. Hayley Matthews provided the breakthrough dismissing S. Meghana, while Smriti scored her fourth TATA WPL fifty. However, after two dropped catches, Amelia Kerr caught Smriti ending a majestic knock. MI managed to keep Richa Ghosh and Ellyse Perry quiet, but Ghosh hit two fours and a six off Ismail's over scoring 36 off 22. Ellyse Perry's unbeaten (49 off 38) and Georgia Wareham (31 off 10) combined to score 39 runs in the last two overs, resulting in RCB ending with 199/3 in 20 overs.

During the second innings, MI bowlers Hayley Matthews and Amelia Kerr struggled to maintain their form, losing wickets to RCB's Sneh Rana, leading to a 45/2. Nat Sciver-Brunt regained the lead, but Mumbai lost captain Harmanpreet Kaur for 20 off 18. Sciver-Brunt scored 69 off 35 deliveries, but Perry's high catch secured the decisive wicket, leaving MI with 71 runs to score. MI continued to fight, but RCB secured an 11-run victory after five losses.
