
TATA WPL 2025: MI secures Commanding Eight-Wicket Victory against UPW

Mumbai Indians secured a commanding eight-wicket victory over UP Warriorz, securing their top spot in the TATA Women's Premier League 2025 points table. Natalie Sciver-Brunt's all-round performance, along with Hayley Matthews' impressive chase, helped MI secure a hat-trick of wins since losing to Delhi Capitals.
MI Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and elected to field first. UPW faced a challenging inning, with Kiran Navgire losing the first after hitting a bouncer to Shabnim Ismail. However, Grace Harris, promoted to the top order, made a significant impact, scoring 45 off 26 later dismissed by Amelia Kerr. No. 3 player Vrinda Dinesh also put a fine score of 33 off 30. However, a collapse was set by Sanskriti Gupta, who dismissed Vrinda and Tahlia McGrath. Skipper Deepti was also sent back, leaving UPW at 93/5. Sciver-Brunt, who was the pick of the MI bowlers took 3-18, leaving UPW at 142/9 in 20 overs.
MI started poorly against UPW, scoring only 18 runs in the first five overs, and faced the early dismissal of Yastika Bhatia. Nat Sciver-Brunt and Matthews broke the shackles with a hat-trick of fours, and the partnership reached 50 in quick time, reaching 65-1 at the halfway mark. MI continued to score, bringing up Brunt's third fifty of TATA WPL 2025 and an unbeaten 75 off 44. Captain Harmanpreet also contributed a boundary and sealed the match scoring 143/2 in 17 overs.
