Ashleigh Gardner led the Gujarat Giants to a commanding 6-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Match 12 of the TATA WPL 2025. The team's disciplined bowling and captain's knock from Gardner secured a perfect revenge against RCB, resulting in their third consecutive loss on their home turf.
The TATA Women's Premier League's 12th Match was held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, where GG restricted RCB to just 125/7 and easily chased scoring 126/4 in 16.3 overs.
GG skipper Ashleigh won the toss and elected to field against RCB. Opener Danni Wyatt-Hodge sent back for LBW on Dandra's ball, whereas captain Ashleigh swiftly removed the pressure dismissing power player Ellyse Perry. Later, captain Smriti Mandhana also left the pitch as she fell to Tanuja Kanwer in the sixth over. RCB faced a challenging situation with a 26/3 score at the end of the powerplay. Kanika Ahuja and Raghvi Bist contributed to the score, but chaos ensued in the 12th over when Gardner dropped Raghvi. Royal Challengers Bengaluru managed to recover with Richa Ghosh and Georgia Wareham, but the lower order failed to provide a late flourish, resulting in a 125/7 score.
The Gujarat Giants faced initial setbacks, with Beth Mooney and Dayalan Hemalatha falling in the powerplay. However, Ashleigh Gardner took control in no time smashing powerful strokes and calculated aggression, scoring her third fifty. She scored 58 off 31 deliveries with an SR of 187.09. She then found Phoebe Litchfield (30 off 21), who continued to score, guiding Gujarat past the 100-run mark and chasing the score, causing RCB their third consecutive defeat.
