Gujarat Giants secured a commanding 81-run victory over the UP Warriorz in Match 15 of TATA WPL 2025, due to Beth Mooney's masterclass innings of 96 off 59 balls, which was the third highest individual score in TATA WPL history.
The TATA Women's Premier League 2025 tournament has arrived on its third venue, Lucknow at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. However, UPW's homecoming was disappointing, with Beth's precision-driven innings leading Gujarat to a 186/5 score and climbing to secure spot no. 2 at the points table. Additionally, GG bowlers and fielders also showcased prowess by dismissing UPW at just 105 in 17.1 overs.
UP Warriorz skipper Deepti Sharma won the toss and opted to field, leading Chinelle Henry's first over dismissal of opener Dayalan Hemalatha. Gujarat Giants found stability through Beth Mooney and Harleen Deol who combined caution and aggression, triumphing in the innings with excellent placement and timing. However, UPW's formidable wicket-taker Sophie Ecclestone ended the partnership dismissing Harleen at 45 off 32 deliveries. Beth later partnered with Ashleigh Gardner (11 off 10), Deandra Dottin (17 off 8), Phoebe Litchfield and Bharti Fulmali, but she remained unfazed offering hat-trick of boundaries. Her unbeaten 96* off 59 is now the highest individual score in TATA WPL history.
UPW struggled against Gujarat Giants, to chase the target of 187 runs. GG's bowling unit, led by Kashvee Gautam and Tanuja Kanwer, dismantled the UPW lineup and ended them at 105. The Gujarat Giants became the second team to successfully defend a total in WPL 2025, boosting their net run-rate. The team's all-round dominance was showcased in the 81-run victory, with GG's spinners putting pressure on UPW.
