TATA WPL 2024: RCB Win in Style defeating UPW by 23 Runs

TATA Women's Premier League (TATA WPL) 2024, a 22-league match tournament has completed its half journey providing great matches with phenomenal performances. Match 11 or the final match on the home ground of Royal Challengers Bangalore which is the M Chinnaswamy Stadium has witnessed 26,000+ spectators watch the amazing match held between RCB and UP Warriorz. RCB clinched a crucial 23-run win in their final game at their home ground. Captain Stylish, Smriti Mandhana has smashed her highest 80 runs off 50 balls that played a significant role in winning the match.
UPW won the toss and asked RCB to bat first where RCB smashed a target of 198/3, which is the highest-ever score recorded in the history of TATA WPL. RCB started well with Smriti Mandhana and S Meghana adding 51 runs in just 5.3 overs. S Meghana provided 5 boundaries but later Anjali Sarvai grabbed her wicket. Further, the partnership of Skipper Smriti and Ellyse Perry showcased a brilliant work, Smriti hit 10 fours and 3 sixes whereas E Perry smashed 4 boundaries and 4 sixes providing 58 off 37.
The hosts, aided by a collective bowling effort, successfully restricted UPW to 175/8, securing a 23-run win and a warm see-off to their ground. The next 11 matches, along with eliminator and finals will be played in Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
Due to her magnificent score of 80 off 50, Captain Smriti Mandhana receives the Player of the Match award. Electric Striker of the Match was presented to Richa Ghosh for her highest strike rate of 210.00. The Sintex Six of the Match was given to Ellyse Perry for her striking sixes.
