TATA WPL 2024: RCB Secures 2 Consecutive Wins, defeats GG by 8 Wickets

The fifth match of the Tata Women's Premier League 2024 (TATA WPL 2024) was held between Gujarat Giants vs Royal Challengers Bangalore at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru at 7:30 p.m. Stylish opener and skipper Smriti Mandhana led team RCB clinches victory in style defeating Beth Mooney led Gujarat Giants by 8 wickets.

The match was quite disappointing for the fans of Gujarat Giants as they suffered to make the score of 107 losing 7 crucial wickets in 20 overs. RCB kept both their spinning and chasing game strong on their home ground. Power Spinners Sophie Molineux (3/25) and Renuka Singh Thakur (2/24) grabbed the first crucial wickets of GG restricting them to 107/7. Renuka took the maiden two wickets in just 7 overs.

The second innings was a treat to watch for the RCB fans, Captain Smriti secured consistent eight 4s and one 6 in an effortless manner, she made 43(27) as Tanuja Kanwar took a catch out.

However, the legacy of Captain Smriti was taken forward by Sabbhineni Meghana who showcased some beautiful strokes for the win. She made a score of 36*(28) providing five 4s and one 6 finishing off the match with a fantastic four whereas the next batter on the pitch was Ellyse Perry made 23*(14) with four 4s. RCB made 110/2 in just 12.3 overs to win the match.

RCB made two consecutive wins in a row topping the points table with 4 points. Renuka Singh Thakur secured the Player of the Match title for her 2/14 in the first 7 overs. Electric Striker of the match was presented to Ellyse Perry whereas the Sintex Six was awarded to Smriti Mandhana.
