TATA WPL 2024: Delhi Capitals Secures Ticket to Finale, defeat GG by 7-Wickets

The TATA Women's Premier League has completed all 20 league matches so far and came to the end of the tournament with eliminators and finals to be played. The top three teams of the points table have been qualified for the playoffs recently, however, after yesterday's match between Gujarat Giants and Delhi Capitals, DC has secured a 7-wicket win over Gujarat Giants in Match 20 of the TATA WPL 2024, securing their spot in the finals, majorly due to Shafali Verma's impressive gameplay.

In the first innings, Gujarat Giants won the toss and elected to bat first, with Minnu Mani replacing Titas Sadhu. They struggled in the powerplay, losing Captain Beth Mooney and Dayalan Hemalatha, DC grabbed 3 crucial wickets of GG scoring 23/3 by the end of the powerplay. DC's disciplined bowling and Meg Lanning's fielding placed pressure on GG batters. Minnu Mani claimed ger maiden WPL wicket, and GG was 42/4 at halfway. Pheobe Litchfield however hit a maximum but was dismissed by DC spinners. GG was restricted to 126/9 in 20 overs.

In the second innings, Delhi Capitals secured a 7-wicket win with Shafali Verma's 71 off 37 score. The openers, Meg Lanning and Shafali started aggressively, with Meg Lanning leading the chase. DC finished 45/2 in the powerplay. As Shafali Verma was dismissed by GG spinner, Jemimah Rodrigues scored the winning runs for DC with six overs left.
