The Tata WPL 2023: Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians lift the trophy and become the first-ever winner of the inaugural tournament of Tata Women’s Premier League 2023. At Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium on Sunday, Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals by a margin of seven wickets.
The two finalist teams Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians competed against each other at the Tata WPL 2023 Championship Game where the DC won the toss and elected to bat first against MI. However, MI gave tough competition through their bowling and took 9 wickets off DC restricting them to make a mere score of 132 runs. MI achieved 134 runs in a loss of 3 wickets in 19.3 overs. Along with the bowlers, MI had a great team of Batters. Nat-Sciver Brunt scored 60 runs off 55 deliveries in an unbeaten effort that featured seven fours. The second-highest runs were made by MI skipper Harmanpreet Kaur who produced crucial 37 runs out of 39 balls giving off 5 fours. The highest wickets were taken by both Issy Wong and Hayley Matthews from MI. Both took 3-3 wickets of DC. The player of the match award was presented to Nat-Sciver Brunt whereas the Player of the Tournament was achieved by Hayley Matthews, she is also titled with the Purple Cap for taking the highest 16 wickets during the mega tournament. The Orange cap holder remains the same as Meg Lanning secured 345 runs. Hayley Matthews has grabbed another title of ‘Player of the Tournament’ for her outstanding all-rounder performance.
