Tamil Nadu's Minister for Youth Welfare and Programme Implementation, Udhayanidhi Stalin, launched TN-RISE (Tamil Nadu - Rural Incubator and Start-Up Enabler), a platform supported by the World Bank, to empower women entrepreneurs in rural areas, offering market linkages, financing, and operational advice. Additionally, it has signed MoUs with companies like Flipkart and HP to offer guidance and training to budding women entrepreneurs.
The TN-RISE offers financial and technical support to rural women entrepreneurs to start and scale up their businesses, including training, mentorship, and access to credit and markets. The Tamil Nadu government has also allocated funds for initiatives like a startup mission and monthly financial assistance. The TN government is implementing these initiatives to foster a supportive environment for women entrepreneurs, enabling them to overcome barriers and thrive in their ventures.
Minister Udhayanidhi mentions, "Based on the announcement of our honorable Chief Minister in TN Legislative Assembly, Tamil Nadu Women Development Corporation is launching a special platform called TN-RISE with the Financial assistance of World Bank. The main focus of this initiative is to bring more women entrepreneurs from the rural areas of Tamil Nadu. This initiative aligns with the principles of the Dravidian movement, which continues to guide the current state government's efforts." He further states that women are "enslaved in two domains: material domain and the cultural domain."
