  • Centres to offer Lower Rate Agricultural Equipment
  • Enables Women Farmers to complete Tasks Efficiently

The Tamil Nadu Rural Livelihood Mission (TNRLM), under the Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women (TNCDW), has established 251 custom-hiring centers and 2,605 tool banks across 32 districts to assist women farmers in renting agricultural equipment. These centres provide lower rates than the market, enabling them to complete their tasks efficiently and save money, thus contributing to their economic empowerment.

Women farmers can utilize these centres to rent farm equipment at lower rates than the market price, such as tractors, harvest machines, tractor balers, etc., without any upfront investments. This enables them to complete their tasks efficiently and save money, increasing their productivity.

According to the TN Government release, "With this equipment, the women farmers can complete the work on time without spending much."

Renting equipment at lower rates reduces the financial burden on women farmers who may not have the capital to purchase such machinery and access to modern agricultural tools increases the efficiency and productivity of women farmers, helping them to manage their farms more effectively. The initiative will also offer training and skill development on the usage of equipment effectively, financial support offering subsidies to make agricultural operations more affordable, and facilitating access to markets to sell the products at fair prices.
