Syngene & RICH launch 2nd Edition of Women in STEM Program

Syngene International Ltd. partnered with the Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad (RICH) have launched the second cohort of its Women in STEM program, providing scholarships and mentoring to women studying STEM at tier 2 and 3 institutions in India. The initiative aims to address challenges like dropout rates and limited career opportunities faced by women. 30 women have been selected for scholarships and industry orientation, enabling them to gain experience in research institutions and companies, fostering an inclusive environment in science and technology.
The program was driven by the Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad, Biocon Foundation, and Syngene Scientific Services Ltd. Out of 549 applications, 216 profiles were shortlisted based on academic merit, socio-economic background, and STEM disciplines. Interviews with 151 students assessed achievements and research interests. The second cohort identifies 30 women, 10 from undergraduate and 20 from postgraduate programs.
The Syngene/RICH program aims to address dropout rates and limited career opportunities among women in STEM programs by offering scholarships and mentorship. This program provides internships and practical experience in top research institutions, reducing financial burdens and providing career guidance. The program boosts confidence, enhances project quality, facilitates networking, and empowers women to excel.
