Supriya Das & 2 Other Women Representatives invited to UN Event

The United Nations Population Fund has invited Supriya Das Datta, the elected head of the Sepahijala Zilla Parishad (District Council), to attend in the United States. The event's particular focus is women's participation in Indian local governance. Supriya will be joined by other two women who are elected to represent Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan as part of a three-person Indian delegation.
In partnership with the Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the event is planned as a side event and will occur on May 3 in the US at the UN Secretariat building. "Localizing the SDGs: Women in Local Governance in India, Lead the Way" is the event's theme. Supriya is focusing on improving education for school-going girls and enhancing women's rural economy, preparing in New Delhi before heading to the United States.
UNFPA India Representative and Country Director Bhutan, Andrea M Wojnar signed the letter of invitation. Supriya expressed that receiving an invitation letter from such a prestigious institution is a result of the work she did after being elected. She has been working effortlessly for the improvement of women's education. She stated, "We have taken multiple initiatives to improve the participation of women in the rural economy through schemes like the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission and so on. I am extremely grateful that I have been offered the opportunity to be a part of the Indian delegation at the UNFPA conference. Two more women representatives from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh will also travel with me as a part of the delegation that will represent India on the global platform."
