The Inspiring Indian Women (IIW) Awards were presented to Specialist Dietitian Alka Pandey in the category of "Promising Professional" award earlier this month at the Houses of Parliament. She has been presented with the honorable award due to her devoted practice as a dietician over the years. She has participated in volunteer work along with contributing to the Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
Alka has helped NHS England's diabetes group during the COVID-19 Pandemic by shooting engaging and informative videos to help with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes patients' vaccination uptakes. She is presently working as a dietician at the Stoke Mandeville Hospital. In addition to this, she also collaborates with nonprofit organizations to promote diabetes awareness in the South Asian community. She uses her social media platforms to upload informative videos in order to spread awareness about this and other health-related concerns and advice.
On winning the award, Alka mentioned that as a first-generation immigrant, she is excited, proud, and humbled after winning the "Promising Professional" award at the Houses of Parliament, describing it as a lifetime experience in British history.
In order to apply for the prestigious IIW She Inspires Awards, any woman, from any country, can register her name regardless of her race or religion. Around 40 to 50 nominees get qualified to the finals at Parliament after two rounds of examination.
