The Republic of Korea (South Korea) along with the United States through the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has initiated the Capacity Strengthening for Women Social Entrepreneurs (WSE) Programme to empower women entrepreneurs in India. The program provides financial assistance and resources to help women scale their businesses, particularly in sectors like healthcare, education, and environmental sustainability. The initiative builds on a Memorandum of Understanding signed in February 2024.

Representatives from Korea and the US attended the launch event for the WSE Programme organized at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea. Delegates include Deputy Chief of Mission Minister Lim Sang Woo, KOICA Country Director Woo Chan Chang, US Deputy Chief of Mission Jorgan Andrews, USAID Acting Mission Director Alexandria Huerta, and Joint Secretary of MSME Mercy Epao. The program focuses on women's economic empowerment, disaster resilience, digital literacy, and trilateral cooperation. The participants will learn about Korea's social economy and visit Seoul, Suwon, and Busan. Following this, USAID plans to host a knowledge-sharing workshop, focusing on action plans and community application strategies to strengthen the KOICA-USAID partnership.

Korean Deputy Chief of Mission and US Deputy Chief of Mission mentioned that India's KOICA and USAID will create a sustainable ecosystem for women entrepreneurs. The program aims to enhance leadership skills and foster economic growth in India, highlighting the US's commitment to promoting inclusive growth.
