South Africa dominated the game over West Indies by 10 wickets in Dubai. They secured a comfortable win over West Indies at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024, due to their strong performance from bowlers and batters.
The team limited West Indies to a modest score and chased it down with ease, showcasing their readiness for crucial matches in the tournament. The team's bowling was impressive, with Marizanne Kapp taking big wickets and Nonkululeko Mlaba taking the 'Player of the Match' title with her 4/29 spell. Captain Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits made easy work of the chase.
South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first. West Indies made a score of 118/6 in 20 overs which was dominantly chased by the South African team in just 17.5 overs scoring 119 without any wicket. Skipper Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits scored 59 and 57 runs respectively, while their bowling lineup was extraordinarily impressive, leaving them needing 119 to win the Group B contest.
Laura's powerful drive in the powerplay set the tone, however West Indies struggled with the ball. Zaida James was injured, forcing the team to use eight bowlers. They now focus on crucial games against Scotland, Bangladesh, and England in Group B. South Africa's win will help them improve and get closer to the ICC title.
