South Africa Crushes Bangladesh by 7 Wickets, Stays in Semi-Final Race

Beating Nigar Sultana-led Bangladesh Team with 7 wickets, Laura Wolvaardt-led South Africa team secured their place as winners. During the 16th match of ICC Women's T20 World Cup that took place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on October 12, 2024 (Saturday).
Team Bangladesh elected to bat first after winning the toss. Team SA performed with superb bowling, climbing to the top of Group B, and securing their victory with just seven wickets over Bangladesh. The South African women’s team restricted the Bangladesh team to only 106 runs. Marizanne Kapp’s skills at 2.5 economy rate, and Nonkululeko Mlaba’s 2.8 economy rate with 1 wicket each, putting pressure on the Bangladesh team from the powerplay. Apart from Shobhana Mostary’s 38 out of 43 balls, and Captain Sultana’s 32 out of 38 balls, the top order failed to score much.
Despite losing 3 wickets, it was a low score for Bangladesh to defend. It took only 17.2 overs for the SA Team to chase down the target. Becoming the player of the match, it was Tazmin’s outstanding 42 out of 41 ball innings with an economy rate of 102 that led South Africa cruising towards victory. She was dismissed by Ritu Moni after scoring 5 boundaries.
Now that South Africa picked a much-needed win, they are finally in the race for the semi-final spot. It will be a head-to-head game for them in Sharjah.
