Smriti Mandhana to Participate in Women's Maharashtra Premier League

The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) has taken a major step towards women's advancement of cricket in Maharashtra by organizing the Women's Maharashtra Premier League (WMPL). The MCA announced this franchise-based T20 tournament for women, marking the first state league for women under the jurisdiction of the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI). The league will commence on 24 June 2024 at the MCA International Stadium in Gahunje.
The teams will be auctioned and finalized on 27 April whereas the players of the selected teams will be auctioned off on May 11. Prominent female cricketers of Maharashtra, both national and international will participate in the tournament. Former women's cricket team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana along with Devika Vaidya, Anuja Patil, Kiran Navgire, and Shraddha Pokharkar are the players who will be seen on the field during the WMPL tournament.
The WMPL matches can be watched live on JioCinema and Sports18 which will provide extensive coverage for viewers all over India. The WMPL 2024 winners will be provided with a cheque of Rs 20 lakh, while the runners-up will get Rs 10 lakh for their phenomenal gameplay, and the individual cap holders will also get prizes.
