Smriti Irani discusses India's Women-led Progress with World Bank Leaders

Former Union Minister Smriti Irani met with World Bank leaders in Washington to discuss gender parity in the Global South, focusing on India's progress in achieving equality. Irani highlighted India's progress in education, healthcare, and women-led enterprises, and the upcoming World Bank Gender Strategy 2024-2030, emphasizing India's commitment to prioritizing gender parity.
Smriti Irani underscored the necessity of implementing gender equity policies, particularly in developing regions, to enable women to fully contribute to government and industry. She mentioned, "In order to expand our global competitiveness, leaders of government and commerce throughout the Global South must ensure that gender equity policies are fully implemented." She added that "Education, healthcare, childcare, and housing policies disproportionately impact women and girls can lead in every sector while fulfilling their potential."
