Veera Health, a digital health platform for women, has raised $3 million in a round co-led by Sequoia Capital India's Surge and Global Founders Capital, with participation from Y Combinator, CloudNine Hospitals' co-founder Rohit M.A., and Tinder India head Taru Kapoor.
The funds will be used to expand the company's engineering, product, and operations teams.
Veera Health, founded in August 2020 by sisters Shobhita and Shashwata Narain, is a digital therapeutics platform that assists women in identifying and navigating Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. Nutrition therapy, lifestyle coaching, and doctor support are also available.
“Indian women are ready for a modern, high-quality healthcare experience. PCOS is a massive need—it’s a lifelong condition that seriously impacts quality of life for millions of women around the world. Our vision is to start with PCOS and continue to expand to more women’s health conditions,” CEO Shashwata Narain said. “Being part of the target market ourselves, we understand the issues better than anyone else and are excited to build something that we can ourselves use in our lifetime.”
Veera Health provides a subscription-based programme that includes a customised treatment plan administered by a team of PCOS specialists including gynaecologists, nutritionists, dermatologists, and mental health specialists.
Surge, Sequoia Capital India's scale-up programme for startups in India and Southeast Asia, has accepted the company into its fifth cohort.
Veera Health is on a mission to improve healthcare for women suffering from chronic conditions, beginning with a digital platform to aid in the treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. 90% of women spend years hopping from doctor to doctor, dealing with stigma, a lack of awareness, and poor quality of care. This is especially true for PCOS, a chronic condition that affects 100 million women in India alone.
The startup guides women through holistic, science-backed chronic condition treatments. They are also the Winners of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business's Social New Venture Challenge (SNVC) and the Tata Center for Development's Social Impact Award.
