To strengthen the university's Emiratization strategy in a meeting with Eng. Omar Khalfan Huraimel Al Shamsi, Member of the Sharjah Executive Council and Chairman of the Directorate of Human Resources in the Emirate of Sharjah, and Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the American University of Sharjah (AUS), reaffirmed the university's commitment to fostering local talent.
The event serves as an illustration of how the UAE government is attempting to entice top talent from all over the globe while simultaneously offering UAE nationals more opportunity to contribute distinctive local ideas and promote more inclusive growth for companies and society at large. By hosting this concentrated and result-driven event, the American University of Sharjah advances its objective of creating new opportunities to encourage local talent.
The university and its students would greatly benefit from the knowledge and professionalism of Emiratis who have acquired quality education and training at local and international institutions. The confidence and skills of the local workers would increase if they worked for a premier UAE company and one of our region's top universities, according to Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi.
As part of AUS's Emiratization initiative, more local women will be encouraged to join and climb to higher positions in order to establish a workforce that is gender diverse. With the understanding that "diversity of ethnicities, experiences, and ideas ultimately contributes to building great organisations and successful nations," I am confident that our strategic and forward-looking emiratization policies will enhance the collective contribution of our current workforce of educators and administrators who are nationals of various nations.
The Chief of the Directorate of Human Resources in the Emirate of Sharjah, Eng. Omar Khalfan Huraimel Al Shamsi, furthered, "We are happy to partner with the American University of Sharjah to promote the role of UAE citizens in establishing a healthy and fast-growing economy. His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, member of the UAE Supreme Council and ruler of Sharjah, has entrusted the Directorate with the vital job of carrying out his directives and objectives.
The Directorate fervently believes in the skills and capabilities of every Emirati, and this is done through implementing human resources strategy and using the talent pool in our nation to its fullest potential. Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi's ambitious strategy, which places a strong emphasis on nurturing homegrown talent, is in line with our objective of producing a strong and capable workforce for Emiratis.
He proceeded by noting that the Directorate is committed to creating collaborative efforts with important partners from all economic sectors in order to accomplish the goals and aspirations of the government. "We look forward to working with AUS to put effective Emiratisation strategies into practise that will boost opportunities for local talent to flourish and accomplish," he stated. Emiratization at AUS, according to Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, is more than just a box to be checked. She said that the institution will offer full assistance to any Emirati applicants, developing and putting in place training programmes to keep the local labour force abreast of contemporary workplace demands.
The university wants to promote a friendly social environment that strengthens local workers' feelings of pride in their country and sense of identity, especially among young Emiratis. The recent Global Day celebration at the American University of Sharjah (AUS) was a carnival of culture and colour. One of the university's most eagerly awaited events honouring the cultural history of the AUS community was launched by Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, president of AUS. The AUS is a close-knit community that values variety and offers its students a rich and nurturing environment to flourish as they develop into responsible, outward-looking adults prepared to engage the world.
According to the Times Higher Education (THE) Global University Rankings, this has allowed AUS to rank in the top five institutions with the greatest proportion of overseas students (2022). The AUS Main Plaza was transformed into a funfair during this year's festivities as attendees strolled among the colourful pavilions of more than 30 cultural and student-interest groups while taking in the rhythm of folkloric music and dance and admiring elaborate traditional clothing from around the world.
