Shafali Verma to lead Team India in Under-19 Women's World Cup and & T20Is

Ace batter Shafali Verma has been picked to lead team India as the captain of the India U19 Women’s team for the forthcoming 5-match T20I series against South Africa and the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup. The Indian squad was picked by the All-India Women’s Selection Committee on Monday. The committee named Shweta Sehrawat as the Vice Captain and deputy and have also selected another capped player, wicketkeeper-batter Richa Gosh.
The first edition of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup will take place in South Africa from 14 to 29 January 2023. 16 international teams will go head to head in the tournament. Top three teams from each group will move on to the Super Six round, where teams will be divided into two groups of six. India has been placed in Group D along with UAE, South Africa, and Scotland.
The top two teams from each group will move on to the semi-finals. The semi-finals will be played on 27 January at JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom. The tournament’s final will be held at the same venue on 29 January.
