Jyothi Yarraji, holder of the national record for women's 100-meter hurdles, broke her record as she ran the women's 60-meter indoor hurdles in 8.20 seconds. In doing so Jyothi created a new national record. Gayathri Govindaraj created the previous record of 8.34 seconds back in 2016. 23-year-old Jyothi stood second in Heat 1 against Ireland's Sarah Lavin, who had run the distance in 8.06 seconds. Jyothi qualified for Final A after she stood fourth overall throughout both heats. She ran 8.23 seconds to get fifth in the 12-woman final.

The other Indian runner competing in Denmark, Amalan Borgohain, stood third in Heat 1 of the men's 60-meter indoor sprint. He then moved to the Final B round, where he stood in second place. Tobias Gorgone Larsen from Denmark won Final B with a time of 6.79 seconds. Amlan Borgohain is accredited for holding India's men's 100- and 200-meter sprint national records.

Both Indian sprinters Jyothi and Amalan competed in their first indoor athletics event ever. This was also the first event of the 2023 season at the Aarhus Sprint'n'Jump meet.
