Bihar CM Nitish Kumar asked the officials concerned to accelerate the process and expressed anguish over the slow pace of appointment in police force. He said against the target of 1.42 lakh recruitments, only one lakh could be made.

Speaking at the concluding function of ‘Bihar Police Week 2022’ at Mithilesh stadium, the CM said only 115 cops were serving a population of one lakh in Bihar.  “We want to increase the strength of police force and provide them all facilities to control crime and maintain law and order,” he said.

Nitish said he created State Auxiliary Police (SAP) and appointed retired army men long back. He said more ex-servicemen would be drafted in SAP.

Nitish said Bihar has drafted the maximum number of women cops. “Now police women will be deputed in all police stations. Arrangements for their stay in police stations with toilets and other necessary facilities for them are being made,” he announced.

The CM announced that the dms have been asked to provide land and pave way for the building construction work and all police stations and outposts would have their own building. The CM asked the police to keep a close vigil on the aspect that 60% of the murders take place over land disputes and hold review meeting every Saturday at police station to address the issue.
