Priya Singh Meghwal, the first female bodybuilder from Rajasthan and a mother of two, brought honour to the state by taking first place in the 39th International Women's Bodybuilding Competition, which was held in Thailand. Following her Golden Globe victory, Priya told, "I am very happy. I have made a small contribution to my country. I received a PRO card in addition to a gold medal."
Priya said that she was having difficulties. She is from Bikaner, a highly conservative village where brides are required to wear veils in front of their in-laws for the rest of their lives. People make fun of me when they see me performing on stage while wearing a sports gear. But I'm also sticking to my custom. For my game, I must wear a sports attire. Priya said, "It is not appropriate if people make remarks about my athletic attire."
Priya claimed that she holds her daughter's success in high regard. Everyone is required to provide for her family. If I hadn't been given a daughter, I wouldn't be in this situation. She attended to all of my needs. My 9-hour per day profession as a gym trainer is required. Finding time for training is challenging. My daughter took care of everything. My daughter is the reason for my achievement, said Priya.
Following her victory in the gold, Priya stated that her next goal is to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics as well as the Universiade (international multi-sport competitions).
When asked if the state government was giving her any financial assistance, Priya responded, "If the government is giving me any assistance, I will appreciate it. However, they have not yet offered it. I would have informed the media if they had offered. If the government does not support me, I will not stop.
Priya added that she had participated in national competitions and had won two international prizes.
