Rachna Bahadur, a former Bain & Company partner, has been named senior vice president of Byju's global expansion ambitions, the company announced on Friday. According to a statement, Bahadur will be in charge of the entire planning, strategy, and roadmap for Byju's expansion in new and existing regions.
She will be in charge of increasing the footprint of Byju's recent acquisition of Epic in the US market, as well as developing the company's next growth phase, creating new alliances, reinforcing sales, and solidifying the company's market stance around the globe.
In July, Byju's announced the acquisition of Epic, a digital reading platform based in the United States, for $500 million (about Rs 3,729.8 crore), as well as a $1 billion (roughly Rs 7,459.7 crore) investment in the North American market over the next three years to expand its operations there.
According to the firm, Bahadur's hiring is a step toward bolstering Byju's leadership across verticals as the company strives to establish world-class products, teams, and partnerships.
"As we continue to evolve and diversify our business across the globe, we are focusing on bringing the best talent in the industry to further drive our mission of creating a community of lifelong learners. Rachna is a leader with a proven track record," Byju's Chief People Officer Pravin Prakash said.
Her wide expertise, breadth of experience, and core background in consumer product practise will be a valuable asset to Byju's, and she will play a major role in helping the company chart a high-impact, high-growth network, he added.
Bahadur previously worked as a Partner at Bain & Company, where she was a leader in the consumer product business. She has over 15 years of expertise. She also co-led the India branch of 'Women @ Bain,' which attempts to create a gender non-conforming (GNC) workplace for women.
"I look forward to working with the team to further build on the foundation and growth potential in the business. From building new partnerships to expanding existing ones, I look forward to crafting new strategies to take BYJU'S into its next phase of growth," Bahadur said.
